1 teaspoonful dry pepper
8 cloves
3 roots ginger
6 - 8 oz. sugar
2½ pints water
Wash the pepper well.
Boil them in a pot with water for about 1½ hours.
Strain when well cooked.
Add the ginger, cloves and sugar and boil again for about 10 minutes.
Allow to cool and bottle.
Dry the pepper and use again.
