200 g flour
3 level tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
50 g margarine
100 g grated cheese

milk
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Rub in the fat and add the cheese. Gradually stir in the milk to make a soft dough. Turn onto a floured board and knead slightly. Roll to ¾ inch thickness. Cut into round scones, place on baking trays and brush the tops with a beaten egg and milk. Bake at 425°F for 7 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
